AFFAIRS
The Valdese Tourism/Community Affairs Department, located in the Old Rock School, develops and maintains tourism activities, plans and promotes Valdese events and maintains and coordinates events in the Old Rock School. Barbara Hefner is the Tourism / Community Affairs Director. The Tourism/Community Affairs Department also works in conjunction with local business and civic organizations to coordinate several events throughout the year which include: Family Friday Nights, the Farmers Market, The Christmas Parade, the Fourth of July Fireworks Show, and the Waldensian Festival.
During the fall and winter months, the Rock School auditorium has some of the best bluegrass concerts in the state. For further information, go to www.vistvaldese.com.

The Old Rock School, built in 1923 by
the original settlers of Valdese, was renovated in the 1970’s and
remains the focal point of the town. The facility holds several class
rooms, a banquet room and a five hundred seat capacity auditorium all of
which can be rented by the public.
